The Jamaica Blog Party which took place during the week of April 15th to April 22nd right here on this blog was an experiment for me personally and to explore the Jamaican Blogosphere a bit. It was an experiment for me to see how fast I could execute on a great idea that I had conceptualized. Too often I brainstorm a great idea and by the time I think, rethink, analyze, overanalyze, plan it never takes off. There is a saying that goes something like this, “The sooner you act on an idea, the more likely it is that you will see it through to the end”. So the Jamaica Blog Party took place about a week after I came up with the idea. Also, it is my humble opinion that the Jamaican Blogosphere is a little behind on the global one when it comes to marketing and trying new things. As you can see from my Jamaica Blog Party post, I actually read and follow non-Jamaican blogs. Rather, the blogs that I like to read and follow happen to be non-Jamaican blogs. After attending the Jamaica Blog Awards back on January 2011, that opinion was challenged, because I saw Jamaican bloggers out in their numbers in a new and highly publicized way. The mastermind behind the Jamaica Blog Awards, Corve Dacosta embraced the Jamaica Blog Party idea and came on board from the start. You can read about him and the other bloggers who participated by visiting their links on the Jamaica Meet and Greet Area here So with that, I thought that other Jamaican bloggers would follow suit in their numbers. However, that was not quite the case.
